North Wessex Downs AONB Walking Festival 2019

4 mile walk commencing at Ashdown House, near Lambourn
As part of the North Wessex Downs AONB Walking Festival 2019, the Landscape Trust is leading a walk on Wednesday 12th June 2019 commencing at Ashdown House near Lambourn. The circular walk is approximately 4 miles long and is easy to moderate. There will be a walk leader. The meeting place will be the National Trust car park off the B4000. The post code is RG17 8RE.
Ashdown House is located in a small valley just north of Lambourn and is one of the National Trust's little known gems. The house is tenanted but the walk will enable people to enjoy the magnifient setting including the site of Alfred's Castle and the doll's house appearance of the this former hunting lodge. (Ashdown House will be open for guided tours in the afternoon. Public access is limited to the hall, stairs and roof.)
The walk is not accessible for wheelchairs and is not suitable for young children. Dogs are not permitted.
There are no public toilets along the route, but facilities are available at Ashdown House in the afternoon when open.
